Written by Megan Miranda, The Girl From Widow Hills is an unforgettable thriller. Arden Maynor is a survivor but she wishes she wasn't. Her survival, an incident which changed her life and the stigma that followed of being a miracle haunts her.

It haunts her until the day she changes her name, moves away from Widow Hills, and starts her life new - one without the stigma of being the survivor, that is "the girl from Widow Hills."

Arden has locked the door but the past isn't letting her escape literally crashing back into her life when she stumbles upon a dead body - one she knew from her past. Can Arden figure out who killed the man lying in front of her and why her past has come back to haunt her? Read on to determine if this thriller is worth your time.

| Why The Girl From Widow Hills Is Worth Your Time

The Girl From Widow Hills is a thriller novel written to please. It is suspenseful, unpredictable, and will captivate you. It is a slow starter but after the first few chapters, you are taken on a fantastical ride.

This novel is worth your time and you will not regret reading it. A great thriller which will leave you shocked from start to end.

| Plot Progression

Ooohhh, yes. The story is written from the point of present day and transcripts of the past. The transcripts surround the miraculous recovery of Arden Maynor in the sewers after three fateful days of searching when a massive rainfall swept her away. Three days, and her life changed. Her survival is a miracle but the publicity and demands that haunt her to this day are anything but.

After being known as the girl from Widow Hills for the majority of her life, Arden takes control by changing her name and dropping her past right into the sewer, exactly where it belongs.

That is, until one day she finds a dead body in her yard. Arden doesn't know how it got there but what's worse is the body is somebody she knows. As a reader you follow her journey to discover the killer and her realization that the past is something you can never really escape from.

| Characters

Megan Miranda wrote intriguing characters. Each time a new character was introduced, I immediately thought - "murderer?" As layers start to peel away and expose the characters, you become further pulled into the novel.

Olivia, previously known as Arden, is a strong protagonist who has had an exhausting life. The characters begin to weave together the night Olivia finds the dead body and craziness ensues. You will appreciate the insanity within these characters and if you are looking for a novel with a touch of crazy, The Girl From Widow Hills is for you.

| Ending

Hot potato, the ending is a piece of abstract art. An unexpected and definitely discussion worthy ending that ties this thriller up perfectly.

You will feel content with the ending, or will you? Just kidding, it's a pretty decisive ending but again, if you want to peel back the layers, more is easily found.

| My Thoughts

WARNING: Skip My Thoughts for a spoiler free review.

I thought this was an enjoyable thriller! It contained the perfect elements necessary for an easy and exciting read and that ending... unexpected to say the least! For me, it was an absolute surprise, anybody else?

I hands-down thought Bennett was the killer, then Elyse briefly, absolutely thought Nate was a creep but the mother?? She was not even on my radar! I appreciate novels that leave you guessing on who the killer is and I don't doubt Megan dropped many little clues that upon rereading I will discover pointing to the mother. Also, did the ending actually happen or did Olivia attack her mother? What the square, the last transcript killed me.

Oh and sorry, her mother locked her in the basement and she still ended up in the sewers? And nobody figured this out, do detectives not exist? Was the Widow Hills miracle too big to dig into? What happened there! That was a doozy for me.

With twists and turns and an unforgettable ending, I highly enjoyed this novel. You should absolutely read The Girl From Widow Hills. It will take you on a fun ride.
