On a rainy night, Molly disappears. The police file a report stating she does not want to be found, they believe  she is one of the thousands of women who disappear yearly desperate for a fresh start.

Nicole does not believe that is the case. As Molly's daughter, she is determined to discover what happened to her mother and when a new lead arrives on the closed case, Nicole leans in determined to uncover the truth behind her mother's disappearance.

| Why Don't Look For Me Is Worth Your Time

Don't Look For Me scrapes its way into the worth your time category. As a reader, this is a novel you will find simple and easy to digest but with just enough shock value to keep you intrigued. The women in this story are fighters and the characters demonstrate logical thinking that is sometimes sorely absent in thrillers.

I am not one who enjoys stories that are pushed along via improbable actions which is what I thought Don't Look For Me was going to have and it did not. You will not need to suspend your beliefs more than usual in this novel and that is a hit. And, once again it is important to mention the characters were logical! A major hit again.

This is not a life-changing read but if you find this in an OP Shop for $2, I'd say buy it because this is just worth your time.

| Plot Progression

I can't go into detail without giving away the whole plot. Very briefly, Molly goes missing and her daughter refuses to believe she has run away and instead assumes something more sinister has happened. Drama then ensues.

The beginning is SLOW. The ending is FUN. If the energy of the second half could have been incorporated into the beginning, this novel would have had a much higher rating. The plot starts without much bang and then the last 100 pages is so delightfully thrilling, it makes the overall plot worthwhile reading.

| Characters

Many characters are in play with Molly as the mother and Nicole (Nic) as the daughter. The novel switches between their viewpoints and I think you will enjoy these characters. Why? Because instead of being clueless victims, they are instead flawed. People make dumb decisions and their decisions that weren't logical weren't fuelled by plot progression but instead the pain these characters held within. Their decisions, despite being stupid at times, make sense with who the characters are because they are written like well-rounded individuals making the characters a hit in Don't Look For Me.

Don't Look For Me was an easy read but not one I couldn't put down. I ended up leaving it on my desk for a week before picking it up and thinking "eh, I'll read some more." The last part contains much more punch than the beginning which I felt dragged on and the "thrills" came at the end.

When Mick was discovered to be Reyes, that elicited a gasp from me. Zero percent did I expected that. I actually expected Kurt to be a little devious which he was, but he was not outright psychotic like Reyes and I really liked them as characters.

The one character I do not understand is Daisy. I am coming to the conclusion she is the mastermind behind the captivity of Reyes and Alice, it was clear she had no connection to Alice based on how easily she left her behind but I don't get how she came back. Why was she in the woods? Did she see them via "Dolly," and hop on over which leads to the question, was she staying at her sister's place the whole time waiting patiently to jump back into action?

And the cameras, Daisy was crazy. She let a women be locked up and also manipulated a child into thinking she was dead and allergic to the outside. I wish there had been a bigger dive into the complexity of Daisy as that could have shone a light onto who Reyes was and his life as a whole.

I do like how Whitaker was a legitimate cop and actually listened to Nic instead of dismissing her. I also like how Nic, despite her interest in Reyes, was a logical protagonist. She went to the police with what she found and then went and put herself in harms way. Thank you. That for me showed a sense of understanding of what the right thing is to do but also the drive to find your loved ones. Nic was a solid protagonist who I feel demonstrated both sides of the coin on what could be done in these unthinkable situations.

Don't Look For Me was not too shabby overall. A fun read and one I am glad I decided to finish because the ending was worth my time.
