As the survivor of a massacre, Quincy earned herself a spot in the elusive Final Girls club. Sam, Lisa, and Quincy are the only members of the club - all sole survivors, all Final Girls of horrific massacres. A club, nobody wants a membership to and with people Quincy would prefer to ignore. That is until one Final Girl ends up dead and the other arrives knocking at her door.

How can Quincy lock away that fateful night at Pine Cottage with Sam nipping at her heels, encouraging her to truly remember what happened. Except Quincy can't and deep down does not want to, she lost four of her best friends at Pine Cottage and the last thing she wants is to relive the nightmare.

But as secrets are revealed, Quincy starts to realize that maybe the little she remembers of Pine Cottage may not be the truth. Truth she has clung to for the past 10 years.

| Why Final Girls Is Worth Your Time

The primary reason Final Girls is worth your time is because it is written well. It is a thriller novel with all the elements needed to create a good story. It contains literary elements bound to make you swoon, gasp, and react in shock and is a read you will have fun with.

Final Girls picks up in pace the longer the novel continues and if you start this novel and are not captivated initially, you will be spell-bound by the end. I am still reeling by how awesome finishing Final Girls made me feel - I had pins and needles and I think you will too! This novel is worth your time as it is an intriguing plot within the saturated thriller genre.

| Plot Progression

The plot is a slow starter. It meanders its way around the massacre at Pine Cottage and the impact that night had on Quincy and how ten years later, she still cannot say His name. Quincy has "moved" on from the past, holding on tightly to the fact she cannot remember the night knowing because of this she can push away the title of Final Girl.

But then Lisa commits suicide and recluse Sam turns up outside her apartment bringing with her questions Quincy does not know how to answer. What happened at Pine Cottage? Did Lisa really commit suicide? And is she, Quincy, next?

As a reader you follow Quincy's journey of discovery as she finds answers to questions she didn't even know she had. Final Girls is a wild ride and you are bound to enjoy this plot.

| Characters

Quincy Carpenter leads the story. As a reader you uncover how she has been surviving, and at times thriving, since Pine Cottage. As the sole survivor of that horrific night when four of her friends were massacred, Quincy is now a Final Girl. Along with Sam and Lisa, they are women who survived when no one else did.

You meet her boyfriend - Jeff, the cop who found her - Coop, and invasive journalist - Jonah who along with the other Final Girls all propel the story forward.

No character is out of place and you will not be disappointed by any.

| Ending

Yippie! The ending of Final Girls is a 10/10 for me. I thought it was superb and though the last page may be a  bit iffy, it still ended with a bang.

I mean, most thrillers end with a bang but this one ended with two and is why you will be sated with the ending. This novel is a banger!

| My Thoughts

WARNING: Skip My Thoughts for a spoiler free review.

I was coming off a DNF and am glad I was able to sink my teeth into something so delicious. Final Girls was good!

To have me thinking that Quincy was the murderer halfway into the novel? To throw me off like that? How dare Sager slip in such an awesome red herring! To not even allude to the true killer until roughly the last 10 pages? And for the reveal to not be rushed with so little writing left, made the novel even better for me!

I seriously grinned throughout so much of this novel and then to discover that Joe was not the killer but instead a retired marine, now cop? Obviously, it makes more sense how a muscular cop with a knife overpowered some scrawny young adults instead of Joe. I am shaken by how great that plot twist was. And yes, I have read other people's comments on Final Girls stating that Coop being the killer was obvious and this novel was a bit gimmicky and to that I say, lucky you! I seriously had no allusions to Coop being the killer so when it happened, I reveled in it.

For those that have read Final Girls, what do you think? Did you suspect something from the get go or like me, were you stunned by the reveal?

This novel gave me shivers and I am glad I read Final Girls.
