White Smoke

By: Tiffany D. Jackson

Release Date | September 14

Genre | Horror

White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson is a mind-bending horror novel modernising the classic haunted house story and a story, I am eager to read.

Marigold, Mari for short, is running from the ghosts of her past. The small new town her mother has been offered a job in is exactly the change she needs to escape the ghosts. The only issue is, the new job comes with free accomodation and Mari must share a room with her younger stepsister, Piper.

Their new home resides on Maple Street and is the epitome of picture perfect, the ideal home for any family except, the neighbours are wary and the house seems to be hiding secrets. There is a foul smell only Mari notices, voices are being heard throughout the halls, lights are turning off on their own, and things are disappearing. The scariest thing of all is that Piper will not stop talking about her new friend who wants Mari gone.

But, running from ghosts is only a metaphor - right?

As Good as Dead

By: Holly Jackson

Release Date | September 28

Genre | Mystery

The third and final instalment in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, As Good as Dead wraps up the story of Pip and her investigations. As I was left with so many questions after Good Girl, Bad Blood, I CANNOT WAIT for this release! I am hoping for more character growth in Pip and some unexpected plot intensity.

In As Good as Dead, the victim is someone Pip knows well - herself. She has become desensitised to the online hate, no longer fazed when people angrily post insults at her but when one comes her way asking, "who will look for you when you're the one who disappears," Pip is finally rattled especially when it continues to pop up online and eventually where she lives. Pip has a stalker and the police refuse to help.

As detective Pip does, she takes the matter into her own hands discovering a connection between her stalker and a serial killer who has been jailed for the past six years. Pip believes the wrong man has been convicted and it is up to her to find the answers and if she doesn't, she may just disappear. EEEKKK!!!
