As the sole survivor of a horrific car accident that took all of her family except her, people say Margot is lucky. Lucky to live. Lucky to have her own room. Lucky to be chosen to live with a prestigious family.

Margot doesn't feel lucky and when she is hand-picked by the Sutton's, she suspects something else is afoot. Upon her arrival it turns out Margot was right and has been hand picked to be a companion to their silent daughter, Agatha. At first, Margot does her best to help and fit in with the rich Sutton's but quickly things begin to unravel. So yes, Margot may be perceived as lucky but when her nightmares turn into reality, Margot feels anything but.

| Why The Companion Is Just Worth Your Time

The Companion by Katie Alender combines secrets, a mother's love, and determination into a delectable little present that is wonderful to read. The reason why The Companion is juusstt worth your time is because it is entirely predictable but dang, you are sucked in immediately.

This is a novel where you will be able to anticipate each move. I compare novels with plots like this to reality TV shows in which you can't stop watching except in this case, you can't stop reading. If you like deceit, predictable but binge-worthy plots and are craving an easy read, then The Companion is worth your time.

| Plot Progression

It is soo easy to guess what will happen and it's kind of okay. Know going into this read that you will be able to predict what happens. I personally enjoyed the plot and ended reading the whole novel after sitting down with the intention of reading only 100 pages. I could not stop because it was like eating cheesy fries, one page was not enough to satisfy me.

You may know the premise of the plot but this is a fun novel to read because of that aspect.

| Characters

Simple. Not much depth to any of them but again, still so fun to read about. The whole reason why The Companion is just worth your time is because it is easy and fun and the characters embody that statement.

| Ending

A delight. The ending is exactly what you would want from a story like The Companion with no extra fixings or lack thereof. A delightful ending for a delightful book.

Worth Your Time? Just barely.

| My Thoughts

WARNING: Skip My Thoughts for a spoiler free review.

The Companion for me was like reading a trashy TV show and I tip my hat off to that. I could not tear myself away from this 400 page beast. It was filled with Munchausen syndrome by proxy and I knew that immediately. Anytime a wayward mother gives some tea.. its poison. This novel had lots and lots of poison.

Anybody else enjoy how simple this novel was? I absolutely knew what was going to happen and I enjoyed every moment of it. Of course the mother demanded control and because of that wouldn't let Margot go to school or have internet or truly live because guess what, she was insane. Oh yes, and murdered her sister and almost her own child. Oops.

How fun this was to read! It was not unique but it was fun. I deem it a great beach read but one you would put on your Kindle because it is quite large.

Nothing much else to say except that was simple and fun and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did.
