A Killing Frost by John Marsden | Tomorrow Series #3

In Reviews by AsterLeave a Comment

In the third installment of the Tomorrow Series, the will to survive and protect for Ellie and her friends has sharpened their senses and emboldened their plans. They aren't on the defense anymore, they are now striking back.

Their strategy? Attack the enemy not just on land but also on water. But if they fail, they could face unthinkable consequences. Is it a risk they are willing to take?

| Why The Third Day, the Frost Is Worth Your Time

If you missed big explosions from Tomorrow, When the War Began that The Dead of Night sorely lacked, this novel has you covered. To date, The Third Day, the Frost also known as A Killing Frost and will be referenced as such from this moment forward is the most eventful novel of the series. It will have you on the edge of your seat.

Assuming you have read the first two, A Killing Frost will reconfirm the choice you made to read this series. It is suspenseful and will leave you wanting more of Ellie and her friends.

| Plot Progression

Hot damn. If you are aching for some action, this plot provides. It is a continuous roller coaster that will keep you wrapped in the novel, desperate to know what happens next.

You will enjoy the plot, hands down.

| Characters

The characters are the same, even Major Harvey makes an appearance and guess what? I still want to punch him in the face. Slimy man, blegh.

You may notice with A Killing Frost that the characters start to get a reputation and with that reputation, get the fear and respect they deserve. They are teenagers putting themselves in danger to fight for their country.

Because of this continued fight, you grow an appreciation of their actions and I think you will value how genuine their development is in reaction to the war. Powerful, painful, and still great characters.

| Ending

You will feel pain. But war, this series, is pain.

Main Genre | Young Adult

Worth Your Time? Yes.

| My Thoughts

WARNING: Skip My Thoughts for a spoiler free review.

Oh Robyn. Robyn. Robyn. Robyn. I teared up at losing Robyn. The only reason I did not cry is because her death was one of the few things I remembered. Again, slime bag Major Harvey was the reason why. She died for her friend's freedom, her country's freedom, and her own. Robyn as Ellie described was stronger than them all and her actions showed that. She blew herself up for goodness sake. If that's not strength, I don't know what is.

A Killing Frost did a much better job than The Dead of Night in bringing the bang. Bomb: Cobbler Bay. Bomb: Robyn. Bomb: Major Harvey. Bomb: The escape.

It really is like saying hello to an old friend. You know their big moments but you missed out on the small things but in literature, you get to rediscover those small things. Wow, who knew that waiting 10 years to reread a series was a great idea?

What a banger to read, absolutely heart-breaking and so enticing. Just yes. A Killing Frost is a great novel and please let me know your thoughts below!
